The Mural is the twelfth episode of Season 3 of Good Times as well as the forty-ninth series episode overall. Written as a teleplay by Dick Bensfield and Perry Grant from an original story written by Bensfield and Grant along with Thad Mumford, the episode, which was directed by Herbert Kenwith, premiered on CBS-TV, originally airing on December 2, 1975.
Synopsis

helma wins a scholarship to college but is $200 short. After J.J. finishes the mural the bank commissioned, he'll have enough money to give to Thelma. However, the bank is unwilling to pay once the mural is unveiled.

Plot summaryEdit
Promised a 200-dollar commission, J.J. (Jimmie Walker) paints a mural of ghetto life for a local bank. Thelma (BernNadette Stanis) is delighted that J.J. has promised to turn the money over to her college fund. But once the final brushstroke is applied on the mural, the bank's directors have a sudden change of heart.
