Synopsis[]
J.J. falls for a girl from a ritzy family. Despite being crazy about one another, her parents won't let him take her to a fancy dance because he's not good enough for them.
Storyline[]
J.J. is enchanted with his new girlfriend, Clarissa, and is all set to take her to a ritzy debutante ball. However, Clarissa has come to the Evans' apartment with some bad news - her parents will not let her go with J.J., saying that they think she is too good for him.
Plot summary[]
J.J. (Jimmie Walker) is on Cloud Nine when wealthy young Clarissa Robinson (Rosanne Katon) asks him to escort her to a debutante ball. Alas, Clarissa's upscale black parents (Santiago Gonzalez, Ann Weldon) are dead set against her dating a "slum dweller." The episode's climax, a showdown between the stuffy Mr. Robinson and the outraged James Evans (John Amos), is one of the series' most hilariously satisfying denouements.
Guest starring[]
- Santiago Gonzalez as Mr. Robinson (as Santiago A. Gonzales III)
- Rosanne Katon as Clarissa Robinson
- Ann Weldon as Mrs. Robinson
