The Comedian and the Loan Sharks is the thirteenth episode of Season 4 of Good Times, as well as the 74th series episode overall. Written by Hugh Wedlock, Jr., and Jack Matcha, the episode, which was directed by Gerren Keith, premiered on CBS-TV, first airing on January 5, 1977.

Synopsis Edit

J.J. decides to borrow money from a loan shark to manage a new comedian but when it comes time to pay up, he doesn't know how he's going to get the money.

Storyline Edit

J.J. borrows money from a loan shark to back his talented new comedian, Tyrone. However, within days, two thugs come to collect their money, money that J.J. does not have. Time is running out as the pressure comes down on Tyrone, J.J. will get his money if Tyrone is good. However, at the last minute, Tyrone bails, leaving J.J. to do the show.

Plot summaryEdit

Aspiring showbiz agent J.J. (Jimmie Walker) has assumed the management of young nightclub comic Tyrone Tyler (Gary Veney). But in order to properly promote Tyrone, J.J. needs money, and for that he goes to a local loan shark. As Tyrone nervously prepares for his professional debut, an equally nervous J.J. awaits the wrath of the loan shark's hired thugs when they find out that he's unable to make good on his debt.
