J.J.'s Fiancée: Part 2 is the eighteenth episode of Season 3 of Good Times, as well as the fifty-fifth series episode overall. It is one-half of a two-episode story arc. Written by Roger Shulman, John Baskin, Jack Elinson and Norman Paul as a teleplay from an original story from Shulman and Baskin, the episode, which was directed by Herbert Kenwith, premiered on CBS-TV, originally airing on January 13, 1976.
Synopsis[]
Instead of going to her senior prom, Diana would rather elope with J.J. in Indiana. However, the purse she leaves behind reveals Diana's drug problem.
Storyline[]
J.J. and his new girlfriend, Diana, plan to do more than just go to the prom...they plan to get married - over their parents strong objections. But there's a dark secret that Diana is hiding from her groom-to-be: She's hooked on drugs, such as coke and heroin.
Plot summary[]
In the conclusion of a two-part story, J.J. (Jimmie Walker) and his girlfriend, Diana (Debbie Allen), override the objections of their parents and elope to Indiana. Meanwhile, the Evans family stumbles upon evidence that Diana is a drug addict as coke and a heroin needle are found in her purse. As both sets of parents search for their runaway children, J.J. later calls, but refuses to believe that Diana is "shooting dope." He soon finds that the strung-out Diana has abandoned their hotel room.
