Cousin Cleatus is the fourteenth episode of Season 3 of Good Times, and the fifty-first series episode overall. Developed into a teleplay by Jack Elinson, Norman Paul and Ron Allen Thompson from an original story by Thompson, the episode, which was directed by Herbert Kenwith, premiered on CBS-TV, first airing on December 16, 1975.
Synopsis[]
After a bank robbery in Atlanta, GA, the FBI questions Florida about her nephew, Cleatus Jackson, the prime suspect. She doesn't believe he had anything to do with it until Cleatus appears at the door needing a place to stay and a suitcase full of cash.
Storyline[]
The Evans get a visit from the FBI asking about Florida's nephew, Cleatus. It turns out he is wanted for bank robbery. When he makes the mistake of trying to use Michael hostage as ransom for a possible getaway by holding him at gunpoint, James is able to trap him by getting the lights to go out by turning on the record player, which kept knocking out the fuse box, retrieving Cleatus' gun in the process.
Summary[]
Agents of the FBI descend upon the Evans family. It seems that the Feds are convinced that Florida's nephew Cleatus (Jack Baker) has robbed a bank in Atlanta. Florida (Esther Rolle) refuses to believe this - until Cleatus shows up at the Evans' doorstep, out of breath and with a worried expression, and a suitcase full of money.
